BY VANCOUVER SUN, VANCOUVER SUN OCTOBER 9, 2009
A Surrey Mountie fired at a car that sped right through the middle of a police investigation, scattering officers, Saturday morning.
At about 1:20 a.m. Saturday members of the Surrey RCMP traffic section were probing an accident scene on 144th Street near 80th Avenue. The road was closed to traffic.
A beige Cadillac STS four-door came up to the roadblock and instead of turning around, it proceeded at high speed into the scene where the police officers were working.
A civilian volunteer staffing the roadblock blew her whistle and alerted the officers who were in the direct path of the vehicle.
One of the officers fired his service pistol at the vehicle as it passed. There were no injuries to the officers. It is not known if the vehicle or any of its occupants were struck.
Parallel investigations into the both the dangerous driving and the police shooting have started.
Surrey RCMP are actively looking for the vehicle and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle/persons involved.
