28-year-old man shot and killed in North Vancouver

METRO VANCOUVER - A 28-year-old man was found shot dead early Thursday morning near 21st Street and Jones Avenue in North Vancouver.
The North Vancouver RCMP were called to the northwest end of the city around 2:30 a.m. after neighbours believed they heard gunshots.
The victim, identified as Brandon Vito Hughes, of North Vancouver, was taken to a Lions Gate hospital with an apparent gunshot injury and later died from his injuries.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating.
“IHIT is unable to confirm whether this homicide was drug or gang related but are confident that it was not a random act,” police said in a statement. “It appears this was a targeted homicide however it is unclear as to whether Brandon Vito Hughes was the intended target.”
